The Project of the Data-Exchanging Standard and Value-added Application about Environmental Quality

Absrtact
In order to develop an open data sharing mechanism and enhance the data liquidity between different heterogeneous application systems, this project has promulgated a data standard for environmental quality data based on its distinguished characteristics. This data standard framework also follows the regulations based on ISO19100 series which was designed for geographic information system. Hence, the environmental quality data liquidity is conforming to international GML standard and the interoperability between various applications can be tremendously improved via open technology. This project achieved many goals for GIS’s value-added application, such as: 1.Assisting EPA upgrade ArcGIS Server Advanced Enterprise to latest version (version 10). 2.New GIS data integration, such as E-map and cadastral map from relevant agencies. Those data has been imported into ArcSDE database then produced new cache map for many EPA relevant units. 3.Publishing all cache maps to ArcGIS Server in order to enhance the display speed and efficiency according to their GIS data property. 4.In order to enhance GIS’s functionality and efficiency, this project has popularized an API service for all application system of EPA based on ArcGIS server. This project also provided detail document in System Bridge, system integration procedure for system developer. 5.Using ArcGIS API to revise original Environmental GIS system and developing new data viewer function in speedy data browsing and printing. According to the service requirement, we complete the system maintenance and make sure all application operating smoothly and publish GIS data and upload metadata to TGOS.
